Dr. Kalinga Seneviratne is a Sri Lanka born journalist, radio broadcaster, television documentary maker and an international communications lecturer. He was the Head of the research division of the Asian Media Information and Communication Centre (AMIC) in Singapore from 2005-2012. He holds a PhD in International Communications, MA in Social Sciences and Bachelor’s degree in Engineering Science. He is a prolific writer both as a journalist and a researcher. He writes to many publications across Asia and beyond, has many published papers to his credit covering development communications, journalism with an Asian perspective, multicultural broadcasting and community media. He has also edited a number of books on communication issues. In 1987 he won a UN Media Peace Award for his work on Australian community radio. He has been a consultant for UNESCO in a number of curriculum development and training projects in Asia covering journalism and community radio.
